Asking for my brother. The Hyundai Elantra GT and the VW Golf have tied at the "most comfortable interior for a very tall person" shoot-out, and the Golf has a terrible standard automatic transmission and costs a lot more.
From what I've read, the Elantra GT seems like a "warm hatch" if you get the sport suspension.
Reviews are one thing, but I'd be interested to hear your anecdotal stories as well.

My gf has a rotating cast of assorted small Hyundais she drives for work. She's an in-home child & family therapist and she drives out to clients spread over a couple of counties, so she can easily have a few hours of windshield time in a day.
Regardless of which Hyundai she has, she feels like none of them are very comfortable. Some are better than others, but none are great. She's 5'9" so not exactly tall, but if you figure she's not that comfy in them and she's a normal sized person, how comfy would a tall person be?
She vastly prefers her car—a '13 Civic sedan—which isn't really that comfy either, in the scheme of things.

I was surprised too, but my brother has actually test driven a lot of small cars, and he told me that the Golf and the Elantra were the most comfortable for him. He's 6' 5" and prefers an upright seating position, so his requirements are quite different from mine.

Hmm. She also has a very upright seating position. Maybe what feels good on a test drive ends up not feeling so good after a few hours?

Possibly so.

I have a 2014 sedan with the 1.8 and the Automatic. If I were him, I would run. I am on my second transmission, and it still has major issues.

Was it replaced under warranty? My brother is a bit concerned about the reliability of Korean cars, but to him the 100,000 mile warranty seems reassuring.
Now that I think about it, both of the people I know IRL who drive Hyundais have both had transmission problems. That doesn't paint a pretty picture.

I have been having issues since 4,000 miles. I actually have an engineer from Florida coming to look at the car to see if he can determine cause of the issues.

My driving school uses them. Ive driven one, Its not horrible. It could be way worse I'd put the driving dynamics on par with a fiat 500 pop, or very close to on par
